Choosing how hard the AI thinks

Everre runs on several AI models of different sizes. You choose between them as depth — how much thinking a question gets — rather than by picking a model name, because the models behind each setting change as better ones arrive and your choice should survive that.

There are three.

DepthGood for
FastLooking something up, a short answer, naming things
BalancedEveryday research, drafting and analysis — the default
DeepUnderwriting, long documents, work you will send to a client

Two places to set it

Your organisation's default lives in Settings → AI Settings, and applies to everyone. An administrator sets it. Most teams leave it on Balanced.

A single conversation can use a different depth. The picker sits under the message box in the AI panel: choose Fast for a quick lookup, or Deep when you are asking for something you will put your name on. The choice sticks for the rest of that conversation, so you set it once rather than per message.

A conversation you never touch the picker on follows the organisation default — including if an administrator changes that default later.

When Deep is worth it

Deep costs more per answer and takes longer. It is worth it when the answer is long or the reasoning is load-bearing:

  • underwriting a property, where a wrong step compounds through every figure
  • a full offering memorandum or a market report
  • anything a client will read with your name on it

For "what's the phone number for the broker on 4400 Vandalia", Deep will give you the same phone number more slowly.

When Fast is enough

Fast is genuinely good at retrieval and short answers. Use it for lookups, quick summaries and questions where you would have searched rather than asked.

One thing to know: on long documents Fast tends to write out values rather than link them to your records. That is fine for something you are reading now and worse for something you will keep, because the figures will not update when the underlying record does. For a document you intend to keep or send, use Balanced or Deep.

What it costs

Depth changes the cost of an answer, and everything draws on the same credit balance described in Credits and billing. Deeper answers cost more; there is no separate fee for using Deep and no plan to upgrade to.

Your spending caps apply whichever depth you choose. If your organisation has a monthly cap, Deep will reach it sooner — the cap is on money, not on questions.

What it does not change

Depth changes the model that answers. It does not change what the AI can do: the same records, the same tools, the same approvals. A Deep conversation still cannot send an email or sign a document without you approving it, and a Fast one reaches exactly as far into your data as a Deep one does.
